Macduff harbour disrepair: McInnes voices concern

4.50.00pm GMT Tue 5th Feb 2008

North East Liberal Democrat MSP Alison McInnes yesterday inspected severe cracks emerging in the harbour's masonry, after residents contacted her about the damage.

The cracks, which are easily visible near the lighthouse, were identified some time ago, but they have steadily become worse.

After viewing the damage McInnes said, "This deterioration is certainly cause for concern. The harbour is a key part of the town's infrastructure and as such it must be protected. Action taken now might be less costly for the long run."

She added, "I have written to Aberdeenshire Council asking for an up to date assessment of the damage, and to find out what remedial action they intend to take."
