McInnes commends Which? campaign on mis-sold insurance

12.00.00am GMT Mon 21st Jan 2008

North East MSP today welcomed Which? magazine's campaign on payment protection insurance after the consumer watchdog described it as "a poor deal for consumers, a nice earner for insurers."

Payment protection is often sold alongside financial products such as loans, mortgages and credit cards.

McInnes said, "Which? have done consumers a favour by highlighting the exploitative practices of far too many lenders and insurers."

She continued, "Insurers have a responsibility not to scaremonger, and consumers have the right to be informed fully."
