Alison McInnes - Campaigning as MSP for North East Scotland

Local Business Growth Fund

12.00.00am GMT Tue 20th Mar 2007

Alison McInnes, NE Scotland PSPC is backing plans to introduce a Local Business Growth Fund. Nicol Stephen, leader of Scottish Liberal Democrats promised to introduce this new scheme if elected First Minister.

He said "When a local authority raises extra business rates by encouraging business to locate or start locally, a Scottish Liberal Democrat government will allow them to keep 50% of that. This should encourage a real pro enterprise attitude in our local councils."

Alison McInnes said "this is just the kind of positive approach local councils welcome - to be allowed to keep more business rates revenue locally means it can be re-invested in our communities. This scheme will foster stronger local economies."
