North East MSP and Liberal Democrat Climate Change Spokesperson Alison McInnes has welcomed the Big Lottery Funds Decision announced last week to grant £8,075 to West Garioch Community Council to regenerate Insch meadows.

The grant was made as part of a wider nationwide program called "Breathing Places" in collaboration with the BBC. The "Breathing Places" program aims to improve biodiversity, and wildlife habitats that are accessible to all as well as increasing community use of local breathing places.

Commenting Mrs McInnes said "This is fantastic news both for Insch and for the wider North East. This money should make a real difference to the local wildlife and to the conservation of an important meadow habitat in Insch".

On Saturday 28th July, Insch meadows will be holding an Environmental Extravaganza day in which members of the public are invited come and discover the wealth of wildlife to be found in, on and around Insch Meadows.
