Alison Calls for Speed Rail Link to Scotland12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 19th Jun 2007 Scottish Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson Alison McInnes has welcomed a report from Greengauge21, an influential group of transport experts, calling for a high speed rail link between the South of England and Scotland. Commenting, Mrs McInnes said: "Liberal Democrats north and south of the border support the development of a high speed rail link between Scotland and London. "I want the new Executive to consider seriously the options for a route that can deliver sub three hour journeys between London and Scotland, reducing demand for internal flights. "A high speed, reliable service between London and Scotland will encourage people to choose rail over air, cutting emissions and helping to tackle climate change."
