Alison Commemorates National Veterans Day12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 27th Jun 2007 North East MSP Alison McInnes and Malcolm Bruce MP for Gordon this week met with North East Service men and women who came together at Inverurie War Memorial to celebrate National Veterans Day on Wednesday the 27th June. Veterans from across the North East including Inverurie, Ellon, Huntly, Balmedie, and Kintore were present at the event which saw over 20 Veterans from across the local area celebrating the National day. Many of the Veterans were wearing their UK Armed Forces Veterans Lapel Badge, the entitlement to which has just been extended. Alison McInnes explains - "The entitlement to this Veterans Badge was recently extended so that men and women who enlisted in HM Armed Forces between 3 September 1945 and 31 December 1984 are now entitled to the badge. Malcolm Bruce ran a superb campaign informing Gordon residents of the new extended eligibility and I am delighted to see it has been so successful". "National Veterans Day is a day to celebrate, congratulate and thank those who have through their years of service contributed so much for our country". "If anyone thinks they may be eligible for the Veterans Badge, I encourage them to get in contact with Malcolm Bruce's office on 01467 623413 who will be able to further assist you."
