McInnes concerned over Aberdeen Bypass Delay

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 29th Jun 2007

Liberal Democrat transport spokesperson Alison McInnes MSP, has expressed her concerns over the delayed completion date of the Aberdeen Western peripheral Route (AWPR).

Alison McInnes has urged the Transport Minister to assure North East residents that there will be no further delays in the completion of the much needed AWPR.

Transport Minister Stewart Stevenson announced on Wednesday that the bypass originally scheduled for completion in 2011 will now not be finished until 2012.

Commenting Mrs McInnes said - "I am obviously concerned that the longer this project goes on, the more costs will inevitably rise. The AWPR is vital for the economy of the North East and its completion on time must be made a top priority by the Executive".
